How to get the best out of Costit
- Be SPECIFIC
Give as much detail as possible to help the Tradesmen create accurate estimates
Use accurate measurements
Be clear about what it is that you want done
Be clear of what you have and what you don’t have e.g you may already have paint but just need the labour
Keep dealings within Costit
- You may want to use Costit in the future, so keep dealings with Tradesmen within Costit.
This way you can grow your ratings as a trusted Customer when Tradesmen submit your 1-5 Star rating and a nice review to go with it
Tradesmen will be able to see how many jobs you've posted and your average star rating
Website Purpose
- Costit was created as a site to help customers simply search for Tradesmen to get those round the home jobs done. A simple way to connect you the customer to a Tradesman. No more searching on the net, calling around, asking for referrals, taking time off work, driving around when you can do it all through the convenience of Costit.
You have also noticed that the Home page is dedicated to the Tradesmen.
This was done purposely to help Tradesmen find your job.
Service Workflow
- Post a job, review Estimates, Approve or Decline
Reviews and ratings
- Costit wants to keep it classy so we have enabled mandatory reviews. This keeps things real and honest. Tradesmen can submit a review on your hospitality and timely payments and rate you 1-5 stars. So keep in mind that Tradesmen may not want work with customers with only a 1 Star rating. Be nice and professional always.
Good faith
- Tradesmen have taken the time to send you a Cost sheet so it is expected that you will consider their estimate with as much consideration as possible and timely response.
When terms are negotiated and agreed upon outside of Costit, then it is expected that you uphold these terms and agreements with the intent to see such agreements through.
Any variation from the agreement needs to be Cleary re-assessed and agreed upon.
Pay on time and if you have concerns with workman ship then make these concerns know as soon as conveniently possible to avoid misunderstanding.
Good faith is the intent without deception so be honest in all your dealings
Intended purpose of Costit
- The intended Purpose of Costit.co.nz is for the purpose of providing an environment where Customers can:
Post a Job
Receive Estimates
Approve/Decline Estimates
Manage their profile
Communicate with Tradesmen
Anything outside of these conditions for any purpose other than the above that are not similarly in line with the intention to renovate will be deemed as a breach of the intended purpose of Costit.co.nz
If it is known that Costit.co.nz is not being used for the intended purpose[A finding at the sole discretion of Cosit Limited] Costit Limited will enforce it's right to remove, delete jobs or terminate accounts as soon a reasonably possible once Costit is made aware without notice.
Fees & Subscriptions
- Customers will pay a fee which is a percentage [3%] of the TOTAL estimate received from a Tradesman.
You will be notified of the exact amount to be paid through the Estimate approval process.
Fee needs to be paid before the final approval is processed.
The Fee is subject to change at any time with enough notice communicated prior to the change.
Fee is a requirement to ensure Maintenance and Simplicity in the Customer Journey Experience within Costit.
Know your stuff!
- Ensure you take the time to shop around. Have a look through the Tradesmen page at the many profiles and read up on their experience.
Look at pictures of past workmanship
Are they registered?
How many Stars do they have?
What do their reviews say?
When posting a job give as much information and photos as you can to help the Tradesmen send you Estimates as accurate as possible.
Choose wisely
- You have the tools within Costit to make informed decisions.
Read their profile
Don’t make rushed decisions
Ask Questions
Cheapest is not always the right decision
Discuss it over with family or friends. Get a second opinion.
Estimates
- All estimates are only estimates and by no means exempt to any variations. It is important that you understand what work is required in order for you to give the Tradesmen a detailed understanding of what work and materials are required to create an estimate as accurate as possible.
You should review the cost sheet with the intention to balance the cost, materials and labour with the size of the work required.
It would be best if you collate all your estimates and compare them to find the right one that suits you whether it be for Cost, Experience, Location or Reviews you have many tools to assist you.
Accuracy of information
- It is expected that Information conveyed, exchanged, uploaded, in any form within the site of Costit.co.nz be true and that all incorrect information be rectified as soon as reasonably possible.
Information should not have any intent to hurt or promote any form of hate, violence with intention to misguide or be false. Any occurrences will be dealt with at the sole discretion of Costit Limited with nil compensation in instances of breach of conduct where subscriptions are terminated, and profiles deleted.
Costit reserves the right to provide any information should this be Subpoenaed by a legally recognised authority.
Site Conduct
- By no means limited to the below, Breaches of Costit Site Conduct will be at the discretion of Costit Limited. Any action or behaviour that is not reasonably in line with the Intended purpose of Costit will be considered a breach. Hacking, manipulating, knowingly misusing the services, violence, hate speech, profanity, sexual reference of any nature or similar within Costit are actions and behaviours considered to be breaches of site conduct. If necessary, will be referred to local authority.
Workmanship
- Costit has no responsibility to works carried out between 'Tradesmen' and 'Customer' after the point of Estimate approval/Success.
Costit's play no part other than the website connecting the 'Tradesmen' and 'Customer'
Customers should be vigilant when monitoring the progress of the job with both workmanship and financially.
Clear communication and understanding should be communicated and documented prior to any monetary exchange or commencement of work.
Disputes Process
- Any disputes regarding work done outside of the Costit website should be resolved between the 'Tradesman' and the 'Customer'
Costit will hold no responsibility to mediating both parties. Parties should seek alternative legal advice.
Instances where disputes are concerning services within Costit.co.nz or fees paid, Costit will try and resolve these instances only.
Payment Security
- Stripe is the provider Costit use for the processing of payment and handling of card details. The Web is unpredictable for which Costit can not guarantee.
Please ensure that you are using trusted devices and trusted web connections or go to www.netsafe.org.nz to find out ways to protect your online footprint.
Information and Privacy
- General data and information will be used for capturing site behaviours and analysing site activity for the purpose of understanding our customers better. We will use this information to better our services within Costit, identify areas of opportunity, communication and targeted promotions. This data and information will be generalised and will not be isolated to identify you personally.
As we work with other companies to ensure Costit is functionable and relevant we will share information relevant to the task and purpose of the collaboration. Instances can be to enhance the user experience with the recommendation of external parties.
instances where oversite of private information have been compromised; Costit will, once identified, do all within its ability to rectify the oversight as soon as reasonably possible.
Privacy Policy
- Costit is serious about your Privacy. We will do all that is required of us to ensure the safe guard of your personal details. Having measures and practices in place to mitigate any occurrences of misuse of your information. Information is stored securely and handled with due care. At no time will Costit use this information other than for it's intended authorised use.
Your login details should be kept confidential and by no means should you share this with anyone. This is to ensure your details are kept safe and secure.
Your rights
- You at any time have the right to request your personal information from Costit Limited.
Removal or deletion of particular photos or information is available to you within your profile settings.
You can terminate your account and profile at any time.
Should you feel that Costit have breached the terms of your subscription and have given Costit an opportunity to acknowledge, understand and rectify the situation and are not satisfied with the outcome, you should report your experience to the appropriate ombudsman.
Our rights
- Costit reserve the right to delete, remove or terminate any account, profile, subscription or service at time without notice.
Costit Limited will hold no responsibility for consequences of actions aforementioned such as, but not limited to, loss of information, photos, reviews pertaining to the affected account
Trademark
- Costit Limited is a registered company and is protected by Trademark 'Costit'
Intellectual Property
- All intellectual property are owned by Costit Limited. This includes all information, graphics, workflow, pages, concept and uniqueness of the site. Any content within, wished to be used outside of Costit.co.nz must first be approved by Costit Limited.

How to get the best out of Costit
- Ensure that your Profile promotes benefits of your company
Have up to date information available for potential customers
Ensure Pictures of your workmanship are of good quality and recent
Have a nice Profile Pic
When estimating jobs, be as accurate as possible to be competitive as you are not the only one estimating
Keep dealings within Costit
- If Customers want to deal with you outside of Costit advise them to keep dealings within Costit.
We have a rating system within Costit and this will assist your profile by having 1-5 Star rating and a nice review to go with it.
Reviews help customers to make informed decisions when selecting trusted Tradesmen
If you get referrals, lead customers to Costit. This way you will have a track record of jobs conveniently recorded within your profile. Customers can post their job in Private mode then request an estimate from you to close the connection within Costit.

Search for jobs by Category, Location or date on our home page.
Plan your work during the quiet times and stay busy
Costit also has a smart form to make your costings fast and simple. Let our costing form do the work for you. Once you're done, submit the form to the customer.

Interact with integrity and estimate jobs with as much accuracy as possible.
If something is not clear; ask the question
Be honest and ensure that the customer understands fully what it is that you are trying to say.
Be clear, honest and accurate with costings, time-frames and the effort required for the job.
Whether you are interacting with customers within Costit, outside of Costit, via text, phone, email, social media etc always remain respectful, courteous and professional.

Use the Costing Sheet to create and submit Estimates
Manage their profile to update, promote their business and inform customers
Interact with customers
Anything outside of these conditions for any purpose other than the above that are not similarly in line with the intention to renovate will be deemed as a breach of the intended purpose of Costit.co.nz

Fees & Subscriptions
- Tradesmen have the option of Subscribed plans which are paid on a monthly instalment at the agreed price at the time of sign up. Any changes to these prices for any reason whether increased or decreased will be advised with notice to the subscriber a month in advance.
Changes to the entitlements of plans can change at any time with notice to the subscriber a month in advance.
Subscriptions are a monthly agreement and can be reviewed at any time with sufficient notice being advised to the subscriber of any changes.
Changes will be done to better the user experience and with as little disruption as reasonably possible.
Billing Cycles are subject to change for purposes deemed necessary for the users convenience, company preference or 3rd party influence.

Choose wisely
- Choosing wisely is very important for Everyone!
Applying for jobs for the sake of numbers has many risks.
Quality over Quantity will ensure that you are submitting informed estimates and will also increase your changes of estimates being seriously considered by the customer.
Estimates
- Estimates should be made with the intention of capturing as much detail required for the job as possible.
Estimates should not be submitted with the intention to deceive the customer to win the job
Should variation to the Total price occur during the job, this should be reasonable and communicated to the customer in a timely manner
Understand how the costing form works fully before sending through estimates that may be incorrect
Ensure all materials are considered for the job and not omitted from the costing sheet.
